Abstract: Today, data center topologies have multiple paths between source and destination. The default behavior of ECMP (equal-cost multipath) may lead to bottlenecks when some paths have less capacity either by design or due to failures. As a result, deployed capacity is not fully utilized. We show how WCMP can improve the efficiency and describe (in high level) an algorithm that computes (almost) optimal weights and the SDN system which deploys them to network devices.
